Only sort of language servants understand |
Apparently the production values of the series have attempted to mirror in detail the exact feeling, lifestyle and attitudes of that era in order to show people of today what yesteryear was like.
To this end the costumes are excellent, despite The Lord tying his tie with a half hander instead of the Regent’s overthrow. The grounds of his tiny estate are a little paultry in one’s opinion and also another gripe is that the women speak. But all this can be forgiven.
But there is one oversight in this programme that can not be forgiven at all under any circumstances and is by far and away the thing that makes this whole series a complete shower.
Why it degrades all taste and decency and portrays the higher echelons of society in a terrible light. It makes us look like animals! So what is it? Well I’ll tell you what it is. It is the complete omission of the thrashing of the servants! I mean I haven't seen a single one even get as much as a slap. It’s a disgrace!
If this programme is to have even the slightest credibility at all then at least 50% of it should be dedicated to the portrayal of servants being thrashed mercilessly to within centimetres of their sorry lives. (Correction: Inches)
This oversight completely distorts the reality of the decency of higher order human beings at this period. It makes us look like softy, liberal, wishy-washy, namby-pamby low grade arses! Thrashings! That's what's needed to bring life to this documentary, thrashings, merciless savage thrashings of the servants.
nothing like a bit of good old British violence, hey there Percy!!
